Silex manufactures MEMS, which are complex mechanical and electrical systems on a micro scale that are built in the form of a chip. Each MEMS is tailored to specific customers and applications. The company has about 80 clients, of which 10 are considered large volume customers. The client base includes companies from the medical, biotech, telecommunications and consumer electronic industries, as well as the automotive and other manufacturing industries.

Priveq invested in Silex in early summer 2008, as the company emitted new shares to finance the expansion of its productin capacity. Silex is now building a state-of-the-art 8-inch manufacturing facility next to the current facilities in Järfälla.
